ADCDA organized a specialized workshop for consultancy offices, in collaboration with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, as part of the "Consultancy Office Qualification" initiative. The initiative aims to improve the submission and approval process of engineering plans and enhance the preparedness of offices in fire prevention and safety.

Acting Director of the Civil Protection Sector, Colonel Dr. Faisal Hassan Al Qahtani, affirmed that this initiative stems from the Authority’s commitment to developing the preventive safety system in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by empowering consultancy offices and enhancing the competence of their engineers in approving safety-related engineering plans.

He further explained that the Authority seeks to provide practical solutions that balance quality and efficiency requirements while reducing the operational burdens on consultancy offices, aligning with the government's vision for a safer and more sustainable urban environment.

During the workshop, the initiative and its objectives were presented, aiming to ease the burden on consultancy offices by enabling them to approve safety plans without requiring additional classification registration. This will be achieved by qualifying just one engineer from each office, who will be certified by ADCDA after completing an intensive training program in partnership with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).

The workshop also addressed the applicable laws and regulations for the registration and classification of consultancy offices, in addition to providing a detailed explanation of the implementation mechanism and recommendations. These include accrediting the engineers working in these offices through a specialized training program in fire prevention and safety engineering, thereby enhancing their technical competency.
